Note: Upgrading to the TOMEI Technical Trax LSD delivers a noticeable change in how your car behaves — so it’s smart to practice using it first in a safe environment. LSD units often produce a chattering sound during normal operation, and that doesn’t necessarily mean there’s a problem. Because these LSDs are vehicle‑specific, you must use the supplied “TOMEI hypoid gear LSD oil” (GL‑5 80W‑90) that comes in the kit; using other oil types (especially with higher viscosity or different additive packages) can make the chattering louder, increase wear, and shorten the LSD’s life. If you’ve already used aftermarket oil and want to eliminate excessive noise, the recommended fix is to fully flush the unit, refill with the correct TOMEI LSD oil, and — if needed — disassemble the unit, clean all internals, reassemble, then reset initial torque. After installation and about 5 kilometers of driving (i.e. break‑in), re‑check and adjust the torque settings, since the ideal torque may shift depending on vehicle condition and the type of oil used.
